FIC is hiring a Programs Director

The FIC is seeking an experienced Programs Director to develop and manage all of our virtual learning opportunities. We currently produce approximately 12 online courses and 50 online events per year, with a variety of instructors and guest presenters, attracting over 1,000 participants each month. Programs Director Job Description

Application Deadline: December 1, or until we find the best fit
Commitment: 100 hours/month from January-May & August-September; 50 hours/month in June & July

Compensation: $25/hr, contractor position (our highest pay rate)

Supervision: Oversee Programs Assistant, collaborate with Marketing team, reports to Co-Directors

Location: Remote position, candidates must be available during North American working hours to accommodate staff meetings and virtual offerings. 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Researching, planning, developing, overseeing, tracking and reporting on all virtual events and courses (“Programs”)
  • Developing and analyzing annual survey to help develop Programs
  • Connecting and building relationships with new and existing instructors and presenters
  • Liaising with instructors and presenters to development events and courses
  • Setting up and executing courses, including:
    • Creating and delivering on instructor contracts
    • Working with the marketing team on promotions timeline
    • Being the main point of contact for potential and registered course participants
  • Working closely with Programs Assistant, setting tasks, and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Supporting Programs Assistant with virtual event setup for registration and promotion:
    • Event products and pages, including light graphic design
    • Zoom links & Calendar invitations
    • Confirmation, reminder & follow-up emails
    • Liasoning with and supporting presenters
    • Customer service
  • Hosting 1-3 Zoom sessions per week (courses and events) and providing other support to the Programs Assistant, as needed

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with the intentional communities movement and alignment with FIC’s mission/work
  • At least 3 years of professional event production and facilitation experience (ideally through online platforms)
  • Ability to hold multiple-pieces of the big picture (audience identity and preferences as well as organizational mission, values, goals, and budget), multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a friendly personality and the charisma to be a face of our organization 
  • Authentic communicator who is comfortable holding space online in a non-overpowering way
  • Experience with customer service and focus on user experience
  • Experience working in a cooperative, consensus-based environment, whether in a worker-owned cooperative, non-profit or residential community
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, justice and inclusion
  • Identify as tech savvy, flexible, creative, quick thinking, customer-oriented, and budget-oriented 
  • Reliable internet connection and computer are required

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Connection with educators in the the intentional communities movement
  • Recent experience with online learning platforms
  • Experience with Zoom, WordPress, Slack, Monday.com, Help Scout, MailChimp, Canva, Vimeo, and Google Suite
  • Graphic design and marketing experience
