Decolonizing Nonviolent Communication
Deepen your emotional vocabulary and expand your self-awareness by decolonizing non-violent communication.
Join us and workshop facilitator Meenadchi to learn how to deepen your emotional vocabulary and expand self-awareness through decolonizing nonviolent communication (NVC) practices. You’ll learn how to better understand conflict and what your body is saying during communication.
This training offers a framework of speaking in ways that feel true while acknowledging and unpacking how systems of oppression may be built into the ways we speak to each other. This intro-level training will provide tools for deepening your emotional vocabulary, understanding conflict as it emerges in your most intimate relationships, and practical exercises for expanding your self-awareness and ability to offer empathy towards self and others.
Key outcomes of this training:
- A clear framework for exploring and understanding conflict
- A more intuitive sense of your body’s sensations and what they mean
- An expanded emotional vocabulary
- Practices to build empathy for self and others

Loved by Community Builders
This course was a great way to connect with others and feel less isolated in my experiences. It also offered insights into identities I don’t inhabit that will help me understand others more and be a better ally. – Fatima H.
What a beautiful gift to our intentional community builders and leaders! FIC’s programs provide a way for thinking and concerned people to collaborate for solutions to our multitude of global crises. Thank you FIC! – Terri Garcia
I am constantly impressed by the down-to-earth practicality of the FIC workshops combined with the philosophical questions that are so vital for us to explore. I’m grateful for the excellent planning and delivery of the workshops by skilled and inclusive presenters, who create a space that is both welcoming and invites participants to challenge existing ideas and world views. Well done and thank you FIC. – Claire Ogden
