Mission Statement

working yoga retreat centre

Community Description

Inspired by master yogi Baba Hari Dass and founded in 1981, the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga is the oldest spiritual retreat centre on Canada's west coast. We run yoga retreats and yoga teacher training programs, and we also rent our facility to like-minded groups. Most of the work done at the Centre is on a volunteer basis, and each year we also offer a Residential Yoga Service and Study program, which includes instruction in yoga theory and practice. We typically have between 10 and 30 residents during the late spring, summer, and early fall, and a much smaller residential community from December through March.

The Centre sits on 69 acres of land in the heart of scenic Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada. Six acres of the property are allocated to farming/gardening. There is also a small alternative school (K-6) on site.

We welcome applications for our Residential Yoga Service and Study program, and we also periodically post job opportunities for skilled workers. For details and information about other opportunities to stay at the Centre (facility rentals, accommodations and yoga and/or ayurveda retreats) please see our website at www.saltspringcentre.com
