There’s nothing like Springtime in Austin. It’s so beautiful.
And…
We have a room for rent in Mountain Laurel House, a shared, furnished, Craftsman-style home on a green, park-like cul de sac in Central East Austin. $900/month rent. Utilities – electricity, gas, water, trash, internet – paid by Mountain Laurel House from the rent from the two rooms. I’m Donna the mortgage holder and property manager who lives in the house. John is the other housemate. We’re platonic friends, youthful and active seniors. We cooperate on household chores and sometimes do fun stuff together and with other friends.
We have a room available to lease for one other responsible and friendly adult from Feb. 1, through May 31, 2025. Minimum 4-months stay through the end of Spring. It’s not available for a shorter term. To secure the room, $1800 will cover the first two months, Feb. & March to be paid up front. Signed Lease for minimum four months required through May. Potentially available longer.
Location is within walking distance or a very short ride to downtown entertainment and plenty of good food, drink, and groceries. At the Carver Library stop on the #2 Rosewood/Cesar Chavez CapMetro line. Also nearby are UT, HT, and ACC, several hike and bike trails including Town Lake and Barton Springs, several gyms, salons, and healthcare providers.
Bedroom for rent has a queen-sized bed, large closet, two tall windows facing east, a ceiling fan, and desk. There’s a shared full bath on the hallway, and a shared hall closet for additional storage.
This groovy eco-cottage has 9-foot ceilings and an open-plan kitchen in the living-dining room area that looks out onto a wooded lot. It’s a four-star energy-efficient home with rainwater collection, central air conditioning, and heat, so it stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The utility room has a great washer-dryer combo and a clothesline in the backyard. For lounging and relaxing outside, there’s a great front porch and native wildlife habitat yard on a park-like cul de sac in central east Austin.
All kitchen appliances and cooking equipment are shared. You supply and cook your own meals. Sometimes I cook and share a meal. We sometimes sit down to eat our own meals together and chat.
There’s space outside for a garden if you want to grow your own organic veggies, herbs, and fruit. I grow some here and I have a plot in a neighborhood garden nearby where weekly I connect with community friends. The garden’s Undoing Racism ATX folks cultivate and harvest some shared rows and share or give away produce. We have a new Undoing Racism ATX book club.
I practice mindfulness with Plum Blossom Sangha at Flow Yoga and with neighbor friends here at the house or at their house. I practice and try my very best to live the Five Mindfulness Trainings. You would be welcome to practice in the Sangha or not. There are no spiritual expectations other than kindness to each other and sustainability habits in daily living that support the Planet.
There are two cats who live indoors/outdoors (no kitty litter box in the house). We aren’t accepting other pets.
