Kipukamaluhia is located on the southern part of the island, in the county called “Ka’u.” This area is known as “the last frontier” of the island and has a black sand beach—which is a breeding ground for Hawksbill turtles—a rare green sand beach, amazing hiking trails and so much more.

Kipukamaluhia is a unique off grid, multi-cultural, inter-generational, Dharma-Gaia sanctuary; an ideal space for creatives who cherish elegant, voluntary simplicity, for whom self-inquiry, beauty, mindfulness, direct communication, and integrity are important and for those who are nourished by—and love to connect with and care for—gardens, orchards, and animals.

All guests have access to an open, hand-carved Timor temple, for meditating, doing tai chi, edgu, yoga and/or other practices, and access to a beautiful enclosed cedar octagon, which has been used as a sound-healing room.

Due to two family emergencies, the land was temporarily neglected for a couple of months so we need help tending and beautifying the gardens and food forests.

In exchange for a beautiful place to live, we ask for 22 hours per week helping on the land; 20 hours per person for couples.

Jobs consist of weeding, mulching, pruning, raking paths, small building projects, occasional weed- eating, mowing and chainsawing—and mending broken fences.

Minimum stay is one month and if it is a mutually-beneficial exchange, folx are welcome to stay longer. We currently have space for one couple and three single people…

Rashani has spent the past 33 years co-creating two amazing sanctuaries on this island and prior to coming here she spent 18 years renovating a 17th century stone house, tower and barn in the south of France. She has lived off grid for 33 years…
