Multinational, Multilingual, Multigenerational, Friendly, Skilled, — Communitarians!
Our group is as diverse as it is wonderful. We speak many languages and have diverse ideologies, religions, political opinions, and nationalities. We are united by our commitment to greater mutual care and connection among neighbors, community service, living a more sustainable and resilient life, collaborative governance, and our shared vision and values.
We are remote professionals, retirees, citizens of the world, Philhellenes, Second-Generation Greeks, and lovers of the Greek Mediterranean Lifestyle. We collaborate to care for our village together and regularly train in sociocracy and other community living skills to ensure our success.
We love to cook together several times a week in our Common House using delicious local foods. We also love to eat together on our outdoor plateia. We love to hike, bike, sail, stroll, explore natural and historic wonders, and drive to the world-class beaches or ski slopes.
While we are united around our communitarian lifestyle, we have so much more in Greece. For a limited time, some will be able to jump at the chance of Greek Permanent residency in Europe, with all of the wonderful benefits that brings to children and adults, the potential major tax savings of the wonderful Greek tax incentive programs, and the lower cost of living savings. All of these benefits aside, at our core we are a people who want to live a healthier Mediterranean lifestyle surrounded by neighbors who care.
Where we are-
Two Sister Communities, One Shared Vision: Peloponnesos and Crete
We’re thrilled to announce two incredible cohousing community projects in Greece—one in the stunning Peloponnesos and the other on the enchanting island of Crete. Both cohousing villages are in advanced stages of development and offer unique opportunities to bond with fellow members as we co-create intentional, vibrant communities. Each one will have unique features, and bringing both groups together provides mutual support and sister village bonds that will launch an exciting cohousing movement in Greece.
These projects are unique in the world for beauty and multinationalism and Greek village design, and they are for people who desire authentic connections and living more sustainably and resilantly, not for mere Greek house shoppers. Community service and mutual support is part of the secret sauce of cohousing, and only those who join our intentional community now will be able to move in later. Many are moving soon and renting, and part of the mutual support is the incredible help with making the transition to moving abroad or to Greece.
Peloponnesos: “Taygetes Cohousing Village” is in a breathtaking rural mountain “agri-hood” adjacent to an amazing nature/wellness resort. Nearby resort amenities (paid membership) include a children’s nature park, nearby wellness hotel and spa with restaurants, vineyard, and hiking trails. The view of the Taygetos mountains is stunning, and being on the edge of a vast national forest is both peaceful and exhilarating.
This project is for people who like highly rural agricultural-type locations, resort-type living with paid memberships, and want to be able to drive to Athens 2.5 hours rather than fly to Athens. The area is largely undeveloped and has a new state-of-the-art hospital, a lovely city 20 minutes away, and a seaside town 30 minutes away. It does not have a large expat population in the region, with all the amenities more extensive expat communities bring, such as International baccalaureate schools. We have resources to start a Montessori or Waldorf farm school. This project is more advanced in terms of location choice, permits, and completed design but will take slightly longer than Crete due to the start-up nature of the developer’s business and the incredible larger resort amenities forming around this gorgeous natural setting.
Crete: “Ariadne Cohousing Village” will prioritize the sea as well as the mountains. It will benefit from a developer with decades of homebuilding experience, gorgeous seaside homes to tour, plenty of satisfied customers of the builder, and an island both incredibly beautiful and incredibly popular with expats. Crete endures as one of the most sought-after places in Greece to live.
This project is for people who want to be closer to the sea as well as have mountain views, who might not want to be quite as rural (although love being in nature) and who want ready access to the second largest airport in Greece and the many expat-oriented services Crete offers. Crete is one of those places people are most drawn to in Greece- its stunning and varied beauty are rivaled only by food special in all of Greece (most produced on the island) and the unique warmth of its people. While the buildings and home construction is far more advanced in this project (labor and designs and materials ready), for a very limited time, members will have the opportunity to choose the location for this project. Prior neighborhoods for this developer have shown his ability to obtain permits smoothly and quickly.
Our Cohousing and ECohousing Identity:
Our community is rooted in the ancient Hellenic tradition of warm and connected Greek villages combined with the Danish cohousing movement and very specific design principles as articulated in Charles Durrett & Katie McCamant’s seminal book.
These time-tested cohousing architecture and governance standards for cohousing have withstood the test of time for decades, producing thriving communities worldwide that you can visit. While we embrace diversity in ideologies, religion, and political opinions, we are united by a shared mission to live in a community of mutual support, connection, and resilience. We are also committed to a set of articulated values that people share, although resources to live those values and interpretations and priorities can vary among individuals. Managing our village together, sharing time together on a weekly basis while also enjoying our private lives, and living a joyful, purpose-driven life is what our communities are about.
One of our community’s greatest passions is cooking and eating together several times a week, growing and buying local foods from our bountiful Mediterranean region.
We value supporting all generations, from childhood to elder life, and prioritize energy self-sufficiency and water conservation. Our community will be powered by solar and geothermal energy, with water sourced from the Taygetos snowcaps and supplemented by municipal supply for resilience.
Living outdoors and in nature is integral to our identity, inspired by our breathtaking location and climate. We envision generous shared outdoor spaces that encourage an active, outdoor lifestyle. Our aesthetic is deeply connected to the traditional Hellenic village architecture, mirroring the beauty of our surroundings and the cultural virtues of Greece. We aim to use local materials, with stone sourced from our own site and mountain.
We seek individuals who value community connection, sustainable living, collaboration, and community service, and who are inspired by nature.
Who we seek to join us? —
Those who value community connection and living sustainably, who enjoy collaboration and community service, who want to relocate to Greece and Peloponnesos, who share our vision and values and who are inspired by nature, good food, and good company.
Cost: Our home prices include the cost of our land as well as all amenities: The Common House, the pool, the gardens and plateia, the soccer field, basketball court, and pickleball court. The “All Inclusive Cost” for your percentage of land ownership, all amenities ownership, and your 1 to 3 bedroom unit, will run between €320k – €650k in Peloponnesos and slightly less in Crete (around 250k-600k).
Enjoy the Benefits of Greek and European Residency!

Greece remains one of the last countries offering this golden opportunity. Seize this chance to truly belong!
There is also the possibility of being taxed on only 7% of your income for some and only 50% of your income for others. See a tax professional within our network for more information. Americans may possibly soon be without the need to pay taxes in the US when living abroad.
