Meet three communities celebrating their 50th year anniversary during the Virtual Tour of Communities October 2024. From secular to spiritual, urban and rural, forming and established — get a vibrant taste of the communities movement without leaving your armchair!

Sandhill Farm
Active in the communities, organics and political resistance movements. Sandhill Farm has historically been an income-sharing commune for the last 49 years. They are currently restructuring to provide private dwellings for family units and greater personal autonomy while also still collectively stewarding the land and infrastructure, held by a nonprofit.
Shannon Farm
Nestled in the beautiful and fertile Rockfish Valley, 27 miles west of Charlottesville and a 20-minute drive from the point where the Blue Ridge Parkway becomes Skyline Drive, you will find 520+ acres of forests, pastures, river-bottom hayfields, and 8 clusters of houses. Shannon Farm is a residential intentional community where people share land, encourage member-managed agriculture and businesses, and support cooperative and harmonious living situations here and in the larger world.
Dunmire Hollow Community
Dunmire Hollow (est. 1973) is a community of about ten people sharing their lives on 163 acres in a magic hollow in Tennessee. They have fields, orchards, gardens, woods, springs, creeks, a community center, a woodshop, ponds, a food co-op, family houses, etc. Each family is economically independent; and make/have made their living in a variety of ways–teaching, construction, woodworking, nursing, doctoring, auto repair, sewing, truck driving, small-engine repair, and crafts–and from providing for themselves directly through domestic economy and barter.
