Perhaps you have explored the answer in your own unique way. And now FIC has two new films available at our bookstore that offer another possible answer.
Independent film-maker, Helen Iles, has spent the last several years traveling Europe and Australia documenting her journey in search of a more sustainable way of life. What did she find?
In her first film, Ecovillage Pioneers―A Journey Towards Low Impact Living, Helen explores community living at Crystal Waters permaculture village in Australia, appropriate technology at Sunseed in Spain, and spiritual connection with the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland. She visits Ireland’s first ecovillage and meets the Tinkers Bubble and Kings Hill communities in Somerset. Meet the people and explore the visions at Helen’s side. In Lammas―How to Build an Ecovillage, follow Helen on her second journey to Lammas Community. Here, she explores placing her roots in this ecological community with conversations and connections first-hand with the families and individuals living there. Helen explores the question, “What does it take to go ‘back to the land'” and reaches her own conclusions. (Run time: 50 minutes, released 2013)
