NICA ONLINE: Vision Scope (Introduction)Conclusion
This project will increase NICA’s effectiveness and influence using internet technologies. NICA's ability to serve the needs of NW Intentional Communities will be greatly improved by enhancing the virtual community of NW communitarians, increasing IC traffic, improving IC exposure, and increasing NICA membership.
Other project benefits:
- It creates a Board of Advisors which will consist of active online communicators. These will often be the webmasters for NW IC web sites. These individuals often determine how their ICs digitally connect to the broader community -- something that is core to NICA's mission. The board is also expected to grow into the virtual community of NW communitarians.
- NICA will have visible activity on a day-to-day basis as the NICA web site evolves in front of repeat visitors' eyes. The management of this activity will help energize the existing and future NICA leaders. It will also serve as a forcing function that encourages NICA leaders to address specific issues, e.g. membership offerings.
- It will increase NICA's credibility as a strong partner in the IC movement, providing a well-defined purpose for NICA communication with NW ICs and national IC organizations.
This Vision Scope has laid a base for the upcoming NICA ONLINE Project Kick-Off (September 10, 2005). At that point, this document will be "frozen" and new documents which draw content from this will be created in support of the analyses, work by the Board of Advisors, and preparation of the project plan. Any feedback on this document would be greatly appreciated -- email Craig. Also, if you would like to be involved in the Board of Advisors -- email Craig.
